The Tech giants Apple and Google launched Coronavirus tracking app
After the announcement on April 13, Apple and Google launched a coronavirus tracking API on Wednesday. This app is launched both for android and ios users.
The tech giants added that it uses Bluetooth signals to detect who are all the people have been contacting the COVID 19 positively tested patients. The previous API was launched in North Dakota without Apple and google has nearly 4.4% of its total population. After adopting the tech giants notification tools in their API they renamed it to"Care19 Exposure."The spread is unpredictable and it already affected more than 5 million people world widely. They also added many US states along with 22 other countries demanding API to reduce the spread of pandemic Italy, Germany and Ireland also included. Even positive sales are spiking out, due to economic barriers government easing the lockdown without knowing people are spreading the diseases to others.so it is mandatory to
maintain a social distancing which will be periodically monitored by the government officials.
Apple and Google also included that there is no location data or user information linked with the signals, and there is strict data encryption with it. This API helps the government to detect the spread by tracking the contact with the affected persons with more privacy.
University of Washington Law School professor Ryan Calo states that
“Either you have a system unlikely to help people navigate their world, to leave their house and feel safe, or you have privacy trade-offs," these API works without devouring the smartphone's battery life. The patient identity and information cannot be accessed by both the two tech companies. It's only accessed by government health officials. The information is only stored in the individual mobile not in the central database.
